Sleep Sounds is a mixer instead: layer royalty-free sounds — brown noise, pink noise, white noise, rain, forest birds, ocean waves — at your own volumes to build the exact environment that gets you to sleep. A gradual-fade timer avoids sudden silence, background playback survives screen-off, and a home screen widget starts your mix in one tap. A streak tracker helps the habit stick. I built Sleep Sounds after getting tired of white-noise apps that only give you one looping track, or that cut out mid-night because they weren't built for real background playback.
The core idea is a mixer, not a preset. You layer as many of the 20+ sounds as you want (brown noise, pink noise, white noise, rain, forest birds, ocean waves, and more) and set each one's volume independently, so your sleep environment is actually yours.
A few things I focused on:
- A gradual-fade sleep timer so you're never woken by sudden silence
- True background playback that survives screen-off
- A home screen widget to start your mix in one tap
- A streak tracker to help the habit stick
