Me and my friend used to brag about how cooked our screen time was. Whenever I'd send him a reel, he'd say he'd already seen it and throw in some comment about how he watches way more than anyone else. Meanwhile I was convinced I was the one actually scrolling the most. Neither of us had any way to prove it, we were just guessing and talking trash. There was no actual way to settle the argument. So I built ScrollRank to count exactly how many reels each of us watches and put it on a leaderboard, so bragging about your screen time doesn't have to be based on vibes anymore. It started as basically just a counter for me and him. But once I had it working, I realized the fun part wasn't the number itself, it was seeing it stack up against someone else's. That's when I added ranks (Fresh Eyes to Certified Brainrot) and a mascot, Baggy, that visibly deteriorates with your habits, to make the number mean something instead of just sitting there. The friend leaderboard was the whole point from day one, everything else got built around it.
