The Inspiration: As a full-stack developer, I’ve spent countless hours building projects using the MERN stack. I often found myself stuck in a loop of building in isolation, never quite sure if the code was as solid as it could be or if the UX really made sense. I was tired of generic 'Looks good!' feedback—I wanted something honest, critical, and actually helpful. The Problem: Code reviews can be intimidating, and finding a community that gives truly constructive—and sometimes brutally honest—feedback is hard. I wanted a space where developers could put their ego aside, embrace the 'roast,' and actually improve their work. The Process: Building Roast.io was a journey of trying to automate that 'honest critique' process. My focus was on creating a platform where the friction of getting feedback disappears, leaving only the insights that help you ship better software.
