Hi Product Hunt 👋 RateString started with a simple observation: every California workers'-comp PD rating is the same mechanical walk through the 2005 PDRS — WPI, the 1.4 modifier, occupational variant, age adjustment, apportionment, the Combined Values Chart — and yet most of it still gets done with paper charts and lookup tables. So we made it instant. Type the WPI and the full DEU-style rating string assembles live, with the combined PD and the dollars: indemnity by injury-year rate caps, life pension for 70%+ ratings, commuted value at 3%. Every step shows its work, because in comp, a number you can't defend is worthless. The part we're proudest of: the engine reproduces the DIR's own published worked examples end-to-end, and the PDRS tables were audited cell-by-cell — 5,085 occupational-variant cells, the 1,000-cell age table, the FEC grid. The core calculator is free, no login: ratestring.com/calc A sample court-ready exhibit: ratestring.com/demo We'd genuinely value feedback — especially from anyone who's ever rated a case the hard way.
