I'm the maker behind RankRope.
The idea came from a simple frustration with product directories: ranking can become heavily influenced by launch-day audiences, upvotes and popularity.
I wanted to try a different model.
On RankRope, cumulative paid commitment determines a product's position.
It's a simple mechanism, but there are plenty of questions around whether this creates a useful discovery signal. That's one of the things I want to learn from this launch.
RankRope is brand new, so I'm not going to pretend we already have a massive directory.
