I built Purrge after constantly fighting storage issues on my Mac, especially once AI-assisted development became part of my daily workflow. Projects multiply quickly, and so do node_modules folders, build caches, DerivedData, old worktrees, downloads and generated assets. Before long, “Storage almost full” became a regular interruption.
Existing tools such as CleanMyMac are capable, but their pricing can feel high for a job I need only occasionally, especially when it means another recurring subscription. I wanted a focused Mac utility that I could pay for once and keep.
More importantly, I did not want cleanup to feel risky. Purrge scans without deleting, explains what created an item and why it may be removable, lets you choose every action, and moves removed files to the Trash so they remain recoverable. It brings storage mapping, supported cache cleanup, app removal, exact duplicates, developer storage and external-drive relocation into one native Mac app.
Purrge is my attempt to make reclaiming space understandable, cautious and fairly priced. I would love to hear which storage problems interrupt your work most often and what you would want Purrge to handle next.
