I live alone, and one day I started asking ChatGPT for help cooking dinner. It was useful, but I kept thinking how much easier it would be to just talk while I cooked instead of stopping to read. It reminded me of calling my grandma and having her explain a recipe, step by step, even when we’re far apart. I wanted something that felt a little like that. Someone I could ask “does this look right?” or “what do I do now?” without feeling like I should already know the answer. That’s where Ponto started. I built it with Astra for this hackathon, bringing together Brazilian recipes, photos for each step, timers, and an AI cooking companion. The idea is to make cooking feel like a conversation, with guidance that follows your pace and helps you keep track of what’s happening. There’s still plenty I want to improve, but it started with a very personal wish: making dinner on my own feel a little less like figuring everything out alone. I’d love to hear what you’d want help with in your own kitchen.
