I built this app to solve a unique problem: How do you safely transmit sensitive data (like a crypto seed phrase or a highly confidential document) to a device that is completely disconnected from the internet, has Bluetooth disabled, and shouldn't be plugged into USB cables?
The answer: Light. 💡
PhotonDrop uses Luby Transform (Fountain) Codes to turn your files into a high-speed waterfall of optical data (QR streams). Your screen acts as the transmitter, and your camera acts as the receiver. No network protocols (TCP/IP) involved.

I built a custom native Swift pipeline for iOS to extract raw bytes directly from the camera hardware, avoiding the UTF-8 corruption standard QR scanners suffer from.
