Studio sound for your mic in every Mac meeting with EQ
Patchcord is a macOS menu bar app that runs any Audio Unit plugin on your mic and hands the result to Zoom, Teams, Meet or Discord as a virtual mic. Use free plugins like RNNoise or pro tools like Antinode Clear. Every mic gets its own EQ with a live spectrum, switching mics mid-call just works, and Patchcord Camera keeps you in lip sync. Free to use, 7-day Pro trial, Pro is a one-time purchase. No account, no subscription.
I'm Samuel, I run a small film and live production studio in Germany, and I spend a lot of my day in calls with clients.
For years, my way to sound good in meetings was OBS: route the mic through plugins, start a virtual mic, then join the call. It worked, but it was way too much for a quick meeting. Every mic had to be set up by hand, and when my AirPods disconnected, nothing switched over. I also never used my MacBook's built-in mic because it picked up more room than voice.
So I built Patchcord, a tiny menu bar app that does just that one job:
🎙️ Any Audio Unit plugin on any mic, free ones like RNNoise or pro tools like Antinode Clear 🎚️ Every mic gets its own EQ, with a live spectrum analyzer 🔁 Switch mics mid-call, or let Patchcord switch automatically when one disconnects 🎥 Patchcord Camera measures your audio latency and delays the video, so you stay in lip sync ⌨️ A global shortcut to pause and start everything
Now I use it every day for meetings, voice messages and recordings, and I finally love my MacBook mic.
It's free to use with a 7-day Pro trial, and Pro is a one-time purchase, no subscription.
🎁 For the Product Hunt community: the first 25 buyers get Pro for €15 with code PRODUCTHUNT.
I'd love to hear which mic and plugins you'd use it with, and what's missing for your setup. I'll be here all day to answer questions!
