Hi Product Hunt, I'm Tim, maker of OneTask.
175 tools today. One job each. All free.
I'll be continuing to evolve the toolset over the coming months.
Every few days I'd need something trivial — a percentage, a word count, a QR code, a colour converted — and every search result was the same: a slow page, a cookie wall, an ad between me and the input box, and sometimes a sign-up form in front of a division. It felt absurd that "count the words in this paragraph" needed two megabytes of JavaScript and an account.
So I started building the versions I wished existed with three main rules for each tool.
1. Speed: a tool should be usable the moment the page appears, not after a framework boots.
2. Privacy: if the job is a calculation, nothing you type should ever leave your machine — there's no server to send it to, so there's nothing to leak.
3. Focus: each page does exactly one thing, and the answer it gives is the answer you actually asked for, not a wall of related results.
It started as a handful of calculators but as the list grew past a hundred tools, the interesting work shifted from writing tools to keeping them consistent with a shared visual language, the same keyboard behaviour everywhere.
The site is built with a static generator so each page ships as plain HTML with a few kilobytes of JS and no bundler.
The media tools (image resizing, conversion, and so on) were the biggest test of the browser-only rule, and holding that line shaped a lot of decisions.
Most recently I added a ratings widget, share buttons, and a "popular right now" leaderboard and even that is built to count real tool use, not page views, with anonymous stats only.
But what makes OneTask.tools different is that it has no accounts, no uploads, no tracking beyond anonymous page counts. Everything runs client-side, so it works offline once loaded and responds at the speed of typing.
