Olkano
Peace of mind, knowing you're OK
Olkano is a daily "I'm OK" check-in for people who live alone. Set a time, tap once to confirm you're OK, and if you miss a check-in your trusted contacts get an alert. No location tracking, no wearables. Works in reverse of emergency buttons: it acts on the absence of a check-in, not a press during a crisis. Free with one contact, Plus for unlimited. iOS and Android.
Hi everyone, Daniel here, maker of Olkano.
I built Olkano because of my mother. She lives alone, and I kept thinking about the "if something happens to me, nobody will know" fear that so many people living alone carry quietly. Emergency buttons only work if you can press them. GPS tracking feels invasive. I wanted something simpler: a daily tap to confirm you're OK, and if you miss it, the people who love you get notified.
Two things make Olkano different from what's out there:
1. It works in reverse. Most safety apps require action during an emergency. Olkano acts on the absence of an action.
2. No location tracking. Your trusted contacts only hear from us when something might be wrong.
Last week I got my first paying customer, a woman in Chicago who upgraded to Plus to add multiple contacts. That single notification made me happier than I expected.
I'd love your feedback, especially on the onboarding and the sponsor flow (where you can send Olkano to someone you care about). What would make you trust an app like this enough to set it up for yourself, or suggest it to a parent?

Who hunted Olkano?
Olkano was hunted by Daniel Piret. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
