Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Obserf because marketing a developer tool has a weird failure mode: either you spend hours digging through Reddit, HN, GitHub, and the rest of the internet for the rare conversation where your project is actually relevant, or you use outreach software whose answer to everything is basically “send more messages.”
I wanted the opposite: fewer places, better reasons to show up.
Obserf searches public conversations and listings, throws out weak matches, ranks what’s left, and drafts something you can review. It’s open source, local-first, and it never posts. You still have to decide whether saying anything is a good idea.
The surprisingly hard part is teaching it “no.” A lot of the work has gone into making “don’t mention your product here” just as valid an answer as “this could actually help.” I’d much rather get five solid opportunities than fifty results that technically contain the right keywords.
If you build dev tools or indie products, I’d love to hear how you currently find good places to talk about them – and especially where Obserf’s judgment gets it wrong.
