Hi Product Hunt,
I'm a solo developer from Japan. I built Noodle Timer because of one thing that always bothered me about instant cup noodles: the printed cook time is a guess. Wait too long and it's mush; stop too early and it's still crunchy in the middle - and there's no way to tell without opening the lid and risking a burn.
So instead of just counting down, Noodle Timer shows a live, five-stage firmness meter - Firm, Slightly Firm, Almost, Slightly Soft, Soft - that updates as the clock runs.
A few things I put real work into:
- An overtime alert that pings every 15 seconds if you forget your cup on the counter. The timer survives the app being backgrounded and still fires a notification the moment it's done.
- A personal ramen log: shop, category, rating and a photo for every bowl, plus weekly/monthly/yearly charts of your actual noodle habits.
- Fully offline, no account, 10 languages.
- Free - the only thing on screen is a small banner ad. No subscriptions, no premium tier.
I eat way too many cup noodles myself, and I got tired of guessing. I'd genuinely like to know: how do you personally judge when instant noodles are ready - by the clock, by smell, or just by feel?
