I've spent years trying to build a habit tracker that respects my boundaries, and kept running into the same frustration: apps that demanded constant tracking or forced me to reveal more than I wanted to share. Instead, I created Niyom - a simple, local-first habit tracker that puts your habits front and center.
It works like this: every habit runs down the side, every day across the top, so a month of consistency is something you look at rather than something you reconstruct. It is local-first - no account, no sync, nothing leaves the phone - and rest days are deliberate, so a day off on purpose does not read the same as forgetting.
Honest limitations: Android only for now - there is no iOS build and no web app. It is not open source. There is no cloud sync or cross-device backup, because there is no account and no server; CSV export is the way data leaves. Pro is a one-time unlock on Google Play. The Amazon Appstore and APKPure builds do not carry Play Billing.
Does the grid stay readable once you are tracking six or more habits? That is the design decision I am least sure about.
