I've been digging old bottles and hunting relics for years. Rivers, tidal flats, old dumps, ghost towns, and privies. It's the closest thing I know to time travel: you pull a hand-blown bottle out of the mud and you're the first person to touch it in 150 years.
But two things always bugged me.
First, the knowledge is a mess. The best spots live in dead forum links, out-of-print books, and secrets people take to the grave. Every trip started with hours of digging through junk just to find one lead, and half the time I still didn't know if the spot was even legal to be on.
Second, and this one hit me at home: I have shelves of bottles and almost no record of where many of them came from. My kid asks about one and I can't always tell him the story. The find is the best part, and I let it disappear.
So I built the map I always wanted.
The core is the sites: thousands of documented relic-hunting and rockhounding spots around the world, and every single one tells you what you actually need before you go. How proven it is, so you're not driving three hours on a rumor. The local access and legal rules, so you know it's allowed before you're standing on it. Historic map overlays that drop the 1800s landscape onto today. Tide windows for the flats where timing is everything. And what you can realistically expect to pull out of the ground there.
That's the part that took the longest and matters the most. No fake pins, no guesses dressed up as facts. If a spot is a maybe, it says so. If it's off-limits, it's on the map marked exactly that, because the fastest way to ruin this hobby is someone getting arrested at a protected site.
Then, once you're out there finding things, you log every discovery on a private treasure map of your own, so your collection finally carries its story, not just its shine.
