Hello Product Hunt! Last year, I was editing simple promotional videos for my business. I wanted to add clean motion graphics: title cards, lower thirds, and quick animated accents. I am not a professional motion designer, and I do not plan to become one. When I looked for tools to build those assets, every option demanded too much before I could even begin. You need a monthly subscription, a high-end machine with a discrete GPU, and weeks of study just to figure out node graphs or complex timeline expressions. I spent the last five months building and polishing Morphable 26.1 to fix that. Morphable is a free, open-source desktop editor built to make motion graphics straightforward. You can create clean vector animations in minutes, without a subscription and without fighting your tools. What inspired me to build this? The inspiration came directly from that editing experience. Most people who need motion graphics are not trying to produce a Hollywood title sequence. You have a business video, a product demo, or a social clip, and you want to place a few elements on screen, give them smooth motion, and get on with your day. Instead, traditional motion design software treats every user like a full-time visual effects specialist. The barrier to entry is absurdly high. I wanted an editor where you can download the app, drop a shape on the canvas, drag it across the screen, and have a working animation. No onboarding funnels, no cloud accounts, and no credit card forms. What problem am I trying to solve here? Motion design has three major friction points for casual creators: First, recurring costs. Most industry tools lock you into continuous subscriptions. When you stop paying, your access disappears, and your old projects become inaccessible. Second, excessive complexity. Most suites require you to wire up coordinate anchors, write expressions, or manually calculate keyframe offsets just to execute a basic slide and fade. Third, platform compromises. Some tools compromise on rendering quality. They watermark exports, limit resolutions, and require your assets to be uploaded to a remote server. Morphable tackles those pain points directly: Completely free and open source under the GPLv3 licence. The community edition stays free. Fully offline and private. Decoding, rendering, and encoding happen on your local hardware. No tracking, no telemetry, and no account required. Sharp exports at any resolution. Vector artwork is redrawn at your target export size instead of stretched, so a 1080p composition exports crisp at 4K. Identical frame evaluation. Preview scrubbing and video rendering run the exact same logic. What you see on your timeline is what lands in the finished file, whether you are on a budget laptop or a dedicated workstation. How did my approach or process evolve while working on Morphable? When I started five months ago, my initial instinct was to assemble a quick, lightweight timeline wrapper around basic canvas primitives. That approach fell apart quickly. Motion graphics only look simple when the software does the heavy lifting for you. Over five months of daily dogfooding and rebuilding, my process shifted from simply adding features to removing technical friction. What you get in 26.1: Nine canvas objects: rectangles, circles, text, images, video, audio, SVG artwork, vector shapes, and nested groups up to eight levels deep. 22 animation types: position, scale, 2D and 3D rotation, opacity, size, color, stroke, shadow, corner radius, skew, three blur styles, visibility, volume, shape morphing, and video freeze. Visible path motion: straight lines, waypoints, custom bézier curves, and shape outline tracking with momentum controls. True 3D perspective: tilt elements across all three axes with proper geometric foreshortening rather than a vertical squash. Built-in audio handling: background audio and video audio tracks mix automatically, matching volume envelopes to the final MP4, WebM, or MOV export. Documented open format: project files are compressed JSON containers. If this application ever ceases to exist, your project data remains readable with standard scripting tools. Try it and share your feedback! Morphable 26.1 is available now for Windows, macOS, and Linux. This is a first release built by a solo developer. The most valuable thing you can do right now is download it, use it on real footage, and tell me where it breaks. Test it with odd video codecs, unusual frame rates, and phone video files. I will be in the comments all day to answer questions, take bug reports, and hear what features you want next!

Who hunted Morphable Community?

Morphable Community was hunted by Oluwadamilola Oni. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
