Mirasonic is a free, self-hosted Subsonic server that makes YouTube Music searchable and playable in the client you already use. Your playlists, stars and listening history stay on your machine—no Google account or cookies.
Hey Product Hunt — I’m Alex, the maker of Mirasonic.
I built it because I wanted to keep using the music client I already like, without rebuilding background playback, queues, lock-screen controls, AirPlay, or offline caching.
Mirasonic is a self-hosted Subsonic server: it lets a compatible client search and play YouTube Music anonymously, while playlists, stars, and listening history live in a local SQLite database. It does not use a Google account or browser cookies.
It’s free and open source. The limits are deliberate: it is intended for one listener on hardware you control; age-restricted tracks won’t play; and it must sit behind Tailscale, WireGuard, or a TLS-terminating reverse proxy — not be exposed directly to the internet.
I’ve been running it personally for three weeks. I’d especially value feedback from people using Symfonium, substreamer, play:Sub, or another Subsonic client: what works, what doesn’t, and which client behavior I should test next.
