I built Mentro because every Pomodoro timer I tried lost to a single tab. The timer would keep counting down in the background while I read something unrelated for twenty minutes - technically a "focus session", practically nothing.
So I made the timer notice. Mentro sits in Chrome or Edge with an animated companion that reacts the moment a tab doesn't match what you said you'd work on: it speaks up, blocks the tab, groups the rest by task, and calls you back when the break is over.
The part that took longest wasn't the blocking - it was making the companion feel like company instead of a nag. Too quiet and you ignore it, too loud and you uninstall it on day two. Most of the work went into that line.
