MechaCanvas is a browser studio for building real robots. Pick from 41 official URDF models (24 humanoids, 16 arms, a quadruped) or import your own URDF/USD, pose joints in a 3D viewer, wire sensors and servos on a virtual breadboard, and program behaviors with blocks. Hi everyone, maker here!
I built MechaCanvas for a hackathon because getting from "I have a robot idea" to "a motor actually moved" usually means installing ROS, a CAD tool, a simulator and a firmware toolchain first. I wanted all of that to fit in one browser tab.
What you can try right now, no sign-up needed for most of it:
- Open the robot library and load a humanoid or arm (all official URDFs from Unitree, ROBOTIS, AGIBOT, LimX, Franka, UR and more)
- Drag joints in the 3D viewer and save motion steps
- Wire an LED, sensor or servo on the virtual breadboard and see the circuit checks
- Snap behavior blocks together and run them in the simulator
- Import your own URDF or USD model
The hardware path (ESP32 runtime and ROBOTIS/Feetech servos over Web Serial in Chromium) is the newest part and still being tested on physical motors, so feedback there is especially welcome.
