MealVantage
Rates food 0–100 based on ingredients, not just calories.
I'm 17. I wrestle, lift, and got sick of tracking apps calling Pop-Tarts "good macros" because the sugar column looked fine. MealVantage scores every food 0–100 on what's actually in it — additives, dyes, seed oils, ultra-processed junk. Not just calories. Scan a barcode. Snap a plate. Get a real number. Also has AI meal plans that respect what you eat, Apple Health sync, and a scanner that counts individual foods (6 grapes, not "some fruit"). First real app I've built.
Hey PH, Ethan here 👋
I'm 17. I wrestle, I lift, and about a year ago I got obsessive about hitting my macros for cutting weight. Every tracker I used kept telling me a Pop-Tart had "great macros" because the protein/carb/fat split looked fine.
That's not real. A Pop-Tart has 18g of added sugar and Yellow #5.
So I started building MealVantage. It scores every food 0–100 based on what's actually in it — ingredients, additives, seed oils, ultra-processed junk — not just the macro math. If a food gets a 30, you know why.
Stuff I put a lot of care into:
• Photo scanner counts individual items — it'll literally say "6 grapes," not "a handful of fruit"
• Meal plans that respect what you like eating (I hate every plan that pretends everyone wants grilled chicken and broccoli)
• Fast even on gym Wi-Fi
• Apple Health pulls your steps and workouts into the numbers automatically
Building this with my mom on the paperwork side (she runs the LLC — I do the code). Shipping updates every couple days. v1.0.5 just went live, v1.0.6 is uploading to Apple as I type this.
Would love your honest take — try it, break it, tell me what feels dumb. This is the first serious thing I've ever built and I really care about getting it right.
Ask me anything, I'm here all day 🥗
