I built Marksmith Forge because I wanted a Markdown editor for Windows that stayed local and private, but still handled polished exports without requiring a chain of external tools.
Forge keeps your Markdown files local, works offline, and can export directly to PDF, editable DOCX, HTML, EPUB 3, and LaTeX without requiring Pandoc, Office, Python, or TeX. It also includes full Mermaid diagram support, math, live preview, focus tools, and themes.
The app is completely free, with no account, cloud backend, analytics, ads, paywalls, or in-app purchases.
I’m especially interested in feedback on the export quality, Mermaid support, and the overall editing experience. If you try it and find something awkward or broken, I’d genuinely like to hear about it.
