Lumina
The social network for culture, made for real life
Lumina is a cultural social network for real life. It brings Paris exhibitions, theatre, cinema, concerts and more into one place, then adds a social layer: discover what interests your friends, plan cultural outings together and build your own cultural journal. Instead of endless listings or another attention-driven feed, Lumina is designed to help you choose faster, meet offline and experience more culture.
I started building Lumina after a simple frustration: Paris has an extraordinary cultural offer, but discovering the right exhibition, performance, concert or event — and actually deciding to go — can still feel unnecessarily complicated.
Over time, the idea evolved beyond cultural discovery. I wanted Lumina to become a social network designed for real life: a place where you can discover what’s happening around you, see what interests your friends, plan cultural outings together, and keep a personal record of what you’ve experienced.
The goal is almost the opposite of traditional social media. Lumina is not designed to keep you scrolling. It is designed to help you close the app and go experience something.
Building the beta also became an experiment in how far I could take a real product with AI-assisted development. GPT-6 Astra has been deeply involved in that process — helping me work through product decisions, social features, data quality, mapping, testing, debugging and the engineering work needed to turn the original idea into a functioning beta.
Today, Lumina is launching first in Paris. The beta is currently in French, with cultural events, maps, profiles, social interactions and tools to organize outings.
This is still the beginning, and I’d really like to hear what you think — about the product, the concept, and what you would want from a cultural social network built around real-world experiences.
