Hi Product Hunt! I'm the developer.
I built LongShot because I kept sending people four screenshots of one chat and hated it. The stitching apps I tried either had ads, guessed the overlap wrong, or made me pick and align images by hand.
I've been an engineer for 10 years, but I had never built an iOS app before LongShot. I used Claude Design for the UI mockups and Codex for all the code, debugging, and testing. This is my first solo app.
Two things I cared about:
1. Fewer steps. After one-time setup of Photos access, the Shortcut and Back Tap, take a few overlapping screenshots and double-tap the back of your iPhone. Supported small batches can be stitched and saved directly to Photos without opening LongShot. Larger batches, access problems or an exhausted free allowance may require opening the app.
2. Keep screenshots private. Screenshots are usually personal: chats, receipts, bank pages. Screenshot processing happens on your iPhone, with no image uploads, no account and no ads. Apple handles payments, and RevenueCat helps verify and restore purchase access.
The part I'm proudest of is overlap verification: LongShot checks that screenshots connect before merging them. If it can't find reliable overlap, you can retry or select screenshots in the app. It supports up to 100 screenshots in-app, subject to device resources and image size.
