I'm the founder of LEX and wanted to share the story behind it.
What inspired me to build this:
I kept seeing the same problem — people facing real legal situations (dodgy landlords, unfair dismissals, confusing contracts) who couldn't get a straight answer without paying hundreds of pounds for a lawyer. Legal information shouldn't be a luxury. I wanted to change that.
The problem I was trying to solve:
Most people don't know their rights. Not because they're not smart — but because the law is written in a language designed to exclude them. LEX translates that into plain English and cites the actual statute so you can verify it yourself. No jargon. No bill.
How my approach evolved:
I started thinking this would take months. It took 7 days — built entirely on holiday with no coding experience using AI tools. What started as a simple chatbot evolved into a full platform covering 16 countries, 10 practice areas, real statute citations, account creation, and Stripe payments.
The biggest shift was realising the product didn't need to be perfect — it needed to be useful. Every day I shipped something, tested it, and improved it based on what broke. That build-in-public mindset changed everything.
