KindScan

The whole family. One scan.

KindScan is the only scanner with a distinct Safe / Caution / Avoid / No safety data verdict for every life-stage member of your family — pregnant partner, newborn, toddler — in one scan, not one generic score. Scan a barcode, snap a label, or paste a URL. Our Chrome extension shows the same per-person verdicts on Amazon, Target, iHerb and more. Plain-language reasons, checkable sources, free recall alerts. No paid placements. We never sell your family's health data.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I built KindScan after one too many nights squinting at an ingredient list — in a pharmacy aisle, or at 2am with a baby asleep on my chest — thinking "is this actually okay for him?" The hard part: "safe" isn't one answer. What's fine for me isn't fine for a 3-month-old, or for my partner when she was pregnant. Every other app gives a single score for the product. Families aren't a single score. Yuka (76 million users) and EWG score the product — one number, the same for everyone in your family. SafeMom gets closer with pregnancy-specific safety flags, but ends when the baby is born. No scanner follows a family across every life stage. So KindScan gives a verdict per person: Safe, Caution, Avoid — or No safety data (we tell you when we don't know, instead of guessing). Scan a barcode, photograph the label, or paste an Amazon link, and see those verdicts for everyone in your household, with plain-language reasons and sources you can check yourself. And because most of us shop online now, there's a Chrome extension too: it reads the ingredients right on the product page (Amazon, Target, iHerb…) and shows the same per-person verdicts inline, so you never have to leave the page you're already on. A few promises baked in: recall alerts are free for everyone (a safety alert should never sit behind a paywall), no brand ever pays to look safer, and we never sell your family's health data. It's free to start. I'd love honest feedback — especially from other parents. What would make you trust an ingredient-safety app with your family's health data? - Wei Hai
