Instagram's free desktop video editor with AI agents
Instagram Edits is now on Mac, bringing professional video editing and AI agents together. Connect compatible AI assistants through MCP to assemble rough cuts and make edits, then take over with a multi-track timeline, keyframes, color grading, and precise audio controls. Export watermark-free videos in 4K, use Instagram's music library, and publish directly to Instagram. Free to use, with no subscription required for the core editor.
Instagram just brought Edits to Mac, and there's a pretty interesting addition beyond the usual desktop editing tools.
You can now connect AI agents through MCP and have them help edit your videos. For example, ask an agent to put together a rough cut, then open the project in Edits and finish it yourself.
It also has a proper multi-track timeline, keyframes, color grading, and free 4K exports without watermarks.
And you can publish straight to Instagram when you're done.
Looks like Meta is getting pretty serious about competing with CapCut.
