Most upscalers ask you to upload your photo to their server. I wanted one that simply doesn't — so this runs 100% client-side.
Two modes:
• Standard — classic deconvolution + sharpening, ~1s. Also recovers blur in slightly soft photos.
• AI — Swin2SR (Apache-2.0) via transformers.js on WebGPU. The model is fetched once (7.7MB for 2x / 50MB for 4x) and cached by your browser.
One thing I measured while building it: the "classical" Swin2SR weights scored best on uncompressed PNG (25.05dB), but on real JPEG photos (quality 88) they actually fell below the browser's own enlargement (23.20 vs 23.24) and produced horizontal artifacts. The realworld/BSRGAN weights were the only ones that beat the baseline at 24.02dB — so that's what 4x ships with.
