iHatePDF
48 PDF tools that run in your browser, not on a server
iHatePDF is 48 PDF tools - merge, split, compress, sign, unlock, convert - that run entirely in your browser. Files are never uploaded, so there is nothing to delete afterwards. No account, no watermark, no size cap. Open a tab, drop a file, get it back.
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I built iHatePDF because of a habit I couldn't shake: every time I needed to merge
two PDFs, I'd upload a contract to a random website and then spend the next ten
minutes wondering who now has a copy of it. Most "free online PDF tools" are just a
file upload with a delete-after-1-hour promise you can't verify.
So iHatePDF does the processing in the browser. You drop a file in, the work happens
on your machine, and the file comes back. Nothing is uploaded, which also means
there's no account, no queue, no 20MB free-tier cap, and no watermark stamped on
page one.
There are 48 tools in there now. The ones people use most:
• Merge / Split / Extract pages — drag to reorder, then done
• Compress — for the "attachment too large" moment
• Sign — draw it or upload an image
• Unlock — strip the print/copy restrictions off a PDF you already have
• PDF → Text / Image / Markdown / JSON — the last two are for feeding PDFs to LLMs
• PDF Word Count — for anyone with a submission word limit
What it is not: a cloud workspace. Nothing is saved, so there's no history and no
"open on my other device". Very large files are limited by your own RAM rather than
by our plan tier. And a scanned PDF with no text layer has no text to extract —
check the output before you trust it.
It's free. I'd genuinely like to hear which tool you reached for first, and which one
you expected to find and didn't — that's how the next batch gets picked.
