I'm Kouichi, a solo iOS developer (MagickWorX). IceVault started from a small
frustration: password managers are excellent at protecting logins, but the
moment I wanted to record something that wasn't a login — a warranty expiry
date, a Wi-Fi password, a bottle of sake I liked — I was stuck between "too
rigid" (password manager) and "too unstructured to find again" (notes app).
IceVault sits in between. Instead of a fixed form, you design a "template" —
pick the fields you need (text, dates, money, photos, ratings, TOTP codes and
more) — and that template becomes both your input form and your data's
structure. Pin one to a folder and it behaves like a purpose-built app, with
its own list and detail views.
A few things I cared about while building it:
- Each field is encrypted individually and stays on your device. No account,
no cloud, no analytics — the app makes no network connections at all.
- 20 ready-made templates (bank accounts, warranties, Wi-Fi, business cards
and more) to start from, or build your own from scratch.
