Hold fn, speak, and the text appears in any Mac app
HoldTalk is dictation for the Mac without a subscription. Hold the fn key, speak, and the text appears at the cursor in any app. Transcription runs on your Mac with Apple's speech engine, with a personal dictionary and a searchable history. 7 days of Pro free, then 2,000 free words a week or Pro once for 19 EUR during the launch.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Théo, a solo developer in Valencia. I built HoldTalk because I wanted the Wispr Flow gesture (hold a key, talk, the text appears) without sending my voice to a server or paying every month.
You hold fn, speak, and let go: the text is pasted where your cursor is, in any app. It runs on Apple's on-device speech engine in macOS 26, there's no account, and a personal dictionary fixes names and jargon after each dictation. It works in English, French and Spanish.
The launch price is 19 EUR, paid once, and it goes to 29 EUR later. Tell me what breaks, especially the apps where pasting fails and the words it gets wrong with your accent.
