GameMaster

Play Windows games on your Mac — Steam & CS2 just work

GameMaster is a free, open-source macOS app that runs Windows games on Apple Silicon — no command line, no hacks. One-click Steam install, Metal-accelerated Direct3D (DXMT + Apple's Game Porting Toolkit), per-game bottles with automatic performance tuning (msync, AVX, MetalFX upscaling), and a native SwiftUI interface localized in 5 languages. CS2 runs at full speed.

Top comment

Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I built GameMaster because I wanted to play CS2 on my Mac — and everything out there either required Terminal gymnastics, cost money, or silently broke on the next Steam update. GameMaster is free and open source (Apache-2.0). Under the hood it combines Apple's Game Porting Toolkit with DXMT (Direct3D → Metal): you click "Install Steam", log in, and your Windows library just runs. CS2 hits full speed on Apple Silicon. A few things that were genuinely hard to get right: • Steam's web helper, its background service, and the first-run bootstrap each break differently under Wine — GameMaster self-heals all three on every launch, so a Steam self-update never bricks your setup. • D3D11 games need a wine build that exposes the right Metal hooks; we assemble and pin a verified runtime so it works out of the box. • Every game bottle gets automatic performance tuning — msync, AVX advertising, and optional MetalFX upscaling for extra FPS. The whole journey (including every dead end) is documented in the repo. I'd love your feedback — and tell me which game you want running next!
