I'm Sam, founder of FreeQR. I built it because every "free" QR code generator I tried had a catch — usually a dynamic QR that expired in a week, or a paywall the moment you wanted to edit a destination. Static QR codes are trivial to generate for free (they're just a pattern encoding your text), so I didn't see why that part should ever cost anything or need an account.
The one thing that genuinely costs money to run is a dynamic QR code — it needs a redirect service, storage, and analytics behind it. So that's the one thing FreeQR charges for, but even there: every verified account gets their first dynamic QR free forever, no trial, no expiry. If you ever stop paying for extra ones, they pause rather than get deleted.
FreeQR is Australian-built (pricing's in AUD) but works for anyone, anywhere.
