Fotollary started from a simple problem: most of us have thousands of photos on our phones, but we rarely see them again. Existing photo widgets usually work like a basic slideshow — choose a folder and show random photos. We wanted something smarter. So we built Fotollary to analyze the photo library locally on the device, identify people, pets and scenes, avoid repetitive photos, and automatically choose better images for widgets and wallpapers. During development, the idea evolved from a simple smart photo widget into a profile-based system. You can now create different profiles for different purposes — for example, pets for your home wallpaper, travel photos for your lock screen, and family photos for a widget. One important decision was privacy: all photo analysis stays on the device. No photos are uploaded to the cloud. The goal is simple: help people rediscover the photos already sitting in their phone, without having to organize everything manually.
