Every invoice, contract and receipt arrives as an attachment you have to download, rename and drag somewhere. Findest does that part. Connect any mailbox — Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, any IMAP server — and Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox. Then write your filing rules as plain sentences, not keyword filters. Findest reads the document itself, not the subject line, and files it as Invoice_Acme_2026-03-14.pdf. If nothing fits, it leaves the file alone and tells you why.
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I built Findest because I got tired of the same thirty seconds: download the invoice, rename it so I'd recognise it in six months, drag it into the right folder. Forty times a month.
The interesting part is why the obvious solution doesn't work. Gmail filters and Outlook rules match on the envelope — sender, subject, filename, whether an attachment exists. They never open the PDF. So you can automate "move mail with an attachment to label X", but not "file this one because it's an invoice and that one because it's a delivery note."
My own first attempt got that wrong in a way I still find funny. Rules matched by substring, so a rule I'd named "electricity invoices" captured every document the classifier had tagged "Invoice" — because "electricity invoices".includes("invoice") is true. A Make.com software invoice landed in my electricity folder. That wasn't an edge case; it was the algorithm working as designed.
So I threw keyword matching out. A rule is now a sentence — "Electricity bills for the shop, from any supplier. Not gas, not water" — and all of your rules go to the model in one request, so it compares them against each other instead of saying yes to the first plausible one. If nothing fits, Findest files nothing and tells you why. A wrong folder is worse than no folder.
Two things I'd rather say up front than have you find out:
• It polls your mailbox every 5 minutes. It is not instant, and I'd rather not pretend otherwise.
• Your mail is never marked as read — it opens the mailbox read-only, deliberately.
Free plan, no card: Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox, any IMAP mailbox. I'd genuinely rather have your criticism than your upvote — especially if you've tried to solve this with Zapier or Power Automate and it fell over. I'll be here all day.
