Hi everyone! I built FastCapture because I was tired of switching between separate tools for screen recording, screenshots, and annotation. Most existing extensions either upload your data to external servers, require subscriptions for basic features, or are just too bloated.
FastCapture keeps everything local in your browser - no accounts needed for the free tier, no data leaving your machine. You can record your tab, full screen or webcam, capture screenshots of any region or full page, and annotate directly on the page with drawing tools, arrows, text, blur and more.
I spent a lot of time making the annotation system feel native and responsive - it's built on a custom fork of tldraw v1. The side panel mode lets you keep your annotation toolbar out of the recording frame, which was a challenge to get right with Chrome's extension APIs.
