Hi everyone. I am Yash, and I built this on my own.
The itch was boring: my Dock was the same at 9am and at midnight. Xcode and Terminal for a few hours, then Figma and Photos, then dragging it all back at night. I kept doing it by hand and eventually got annoyed enough to fix it.
DockAlly rewrites the actual macOS Dock, not a floating replacement bar. You set up a profile per kind of work, it groups related apps with a gap between groups, stacks the files you really opened next to the Trash, and can switch by itself once it notices which apps you have been living in.
A profile can carry the whole setup too: launch the apps, open the project folder, reopen your links, put windows back where you saved them, start a focus timer. Nothing opens by itself. A button appears beside the Dock and waits for you to say go. A profile switch should never hijack your machine.
Two things I am quietly pleased with:
The Dock has to restart to change, which normally looks like a glitch. DockAlly covers that moment. Glass tiles wrap each icon, gather into a single bar while the Dock reloads behind them, then split over the new icons and melt away.
Every frame of every creature is drawn by the app itself. No sprite sheets, no stickers bought off a shelf. Seven of them, they react to what you open, and you can turn them all off and keep the Dock profiles.
It stays on your Mac. No account, no server, no analytics. Your original Dock is backed up before the first change and one click puts it back, folder sort orders and all.
