I built DeleteFootprints.ai after watching a photo I shot on a real camera get tagged as AI on Instagram. The label came from metadata, my editor had quietly written into the file. There was no way to appeal it and no setting to turn it off. The only fix was to clean the file and repost.
Image metadata tools is useful for optimising images for SEO also.
So I built the cleaner. Then I found the same problem in text: pasted output from ChatGPT or Claude carries invisible Unicode characters that break CMS imports, corrupt diffs, poison search, and occasionally hide a real payload. Every existing tool checked a hand typed list of 30 to 104 characters. The actual deterministic universe of invisible codepoints is 4,231. So I built that too, by rule instead of by list.
Four tools, all free, no signup, no word caps:
Remove image metadata (C2PA, EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, PNG text chunks)
View image metadata, read only, with AI provenance signals surfaced
Edit image metadata field by field
AI text cleaner covering 4,231 invisible characters
One thing I want to be upfront about, because most tools in this category are not. Removing invisible characters does not defeat an AI detector, and it does not remove Claude's or Gemini's watermark. Those live in word choice, not in characters, and no character stripper can reach them. The site says this on the page, not buried in an FAQ. What I can prove is exactly which codepoints were in your file, which ones left, and why. That is a claim I can back with a report.
