Daily

A lil menubar app for daily markdown notes

Daily is a tiny menubar app for keeping daily notes in markdown. I've been using Obsidian for daily notes, but opening the full app every time I want to check my todo list or jot something down started to feel like too much friction. So I made Daily: a lightweight app that points to my existing notes directory and opens my daily markdown note instantly for quick viewing and editing. It works with your existing files, stays out of the way, and is free and open source.

hey yall!

i’ve been keeping daily notes in markdown for a while. i used obsidian for years, then moved to a custom editor. but a lot of the time, i just want to quickly check today’s note, look at my todo list, or jot something down without opening a full app.

so i built a tiny menubar app that points at my existing notes folder and opens today’s markdown note instantly for quick viewing and editing. the goal is to make daily notes feel instant and lightweight, while still using the plain markdown files i already have.

i made it for myself first, but figured others might find it useful too. it’s free, open source, and doesn’t require an account.

there’s even a little demo on the site if you wanna try it out!

cheers :)

Who hunted Daily?

Daily was hunted by Rashid Aziz. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
