I built claude-brief after Anthropic shipped Claude Code Routines last week. Routines are powerful - they run your agents on a schedule, react to GitHub events, and work even when your laptop is off. But there was one glaring gap: no way to see what they actually did.
You'd come back to your desk with no idea if your nightly PR review ran, if your dependency audit found anything, or if something failed silently at 2am.
claude-brief fixes that. It hooks into Claude Code's session lifecycle, parses the local JSONL transcripts, and gives you a structured digest: every session, every file changed, every commit made, every token spent, every error hit - since you last checked.
A few things I'm proud of:
- Billing-aware: detects whether you're on a Max/Pro subscription or API billing and displays cost accordingly (tokens for subscribers, dollar cost for API users)
- Three surfaces: terminal digest, interactive TUI history browser, and a web dashboard
- OpenClaw gateway: if you use OpenClaw, you can get your brief delivered to WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, or iMessage
- Zero config to start: one install command sets up the hooks automatically
Would love feedback from anyone running Routines heavily - especially around the Routine awareness feature (currently beta since Routine sessions run on Anthropic's cloud without local JSONL files).
