Who hunted Chorios?
Chorios was hunted by Elroy van Ouwerkerk. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community. Thanks for taking a look at Chorios! It's a family chore app designed for children aged roughly 4 to 12.
I started building Chorios because I wanted to make everyday chores and responsibilities at home feel more natural for our children. But something happened along the way that I hadn't expected.
My daughter, who is now 10, never really wanted to take our dog for a walk. Once we started using Chorios, that changed. She began taking the dog out, sometimes even twice a day. Initially, she was motivated by earning a little screen time.
But then we introduced a new chore: "Screen-free day".
And to my surprise, she started choosing that one herself. Quite often, actually. She would go an entire day without using her iPad, simply because she had decided to.
That moment really stuck with me. Screen time had initially motivated her to take responsibility, but eventually she started making her own choices and feeling proud of them.
And that's what Chorios is really about for me. Helping children become more independent and giving them something to feel proud of.
Chorios lets children choose their own goals and use a shared tablet without needing individual accounts. The free version includes unlimited chores and children, while additional options, such as earning screen time, are available with Premium.
I'm curious: what would your child choose to work towards? I'd love to hear their ideas.
