It checks the Git index, follows nested instruction files and @imports, and catches unstaged instruction-file edits. MIT licensed and tested on macOS and Ubuntu under sh, dash, and bash.
I built check-docs after finding an instruction file that still pointed to code I had deleted weeks earlier.
It is a small shell pre-commit check for CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md. It checks paths against the Git index, follows nested instruction files and @imports, and catches unstaged instruction-file edits.
The project is MIT licensed and has no runtime dependencies beyond standard Unix tools. Feedback on the checks and false positives is welcome.
