chatview
Turn WhatsApp, iMessage and SMS chats into clean PDFs
Open WhatsApp, iMessage, Android SMS, Telegram, Instagram and ChatGPT exports in your browser. Search, redact and see stats for free, then pay once for a clean PDF or a numbered Evidence Pack. Chat files never leave your device. No account.
I made chatview because getting a readable copy of a chat out of WhatsApp or an iPhone is harder than it should be. The export is a .txt file or a database that nobody wants to read, and private messages are not something you want to upload to a stranger's server.
chatview reads the export in your browser, so the chat stays on your device. You can search it, filter by date or person, hide names and see who texts first. When you need a file, it makes a PDF with the sender, date and time on every message. The Evidence Pack adds an exhibit label, Bates numbers, the key messages listed first and a SHA-256 page for a lawyer, court or HR.
Reading, stats, Chat Wrapped and ChatGPT or Claude exports are free. PDFs of messaging chats are a one-time payment, with no account and no subscription.
I would love to hear which chat app or export format you want next.

Who hunted chatview?
chatview was hunted by Ubeydullah Coban. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
