Hands-free voice AI assistant in your Mac menu bar

Enroll once and it tunes out the TV and the people around you, and your speech is transcribed entirely on your device. It remembers names, family and preferences across sessions, and can reply in VOICEVOX voices in Japanese. Free for 5 conversations a day with no signup and no API key; Pro unlocks unlimited use. Open source.
Hi Product Hunt! The smart speaker in my living room is shared with the family and three rooms away, and Siri on the Mac never quite worked for me. I wanted something at my desk I could just talk to. Chappie is built with Tauri 2 and Rust, and keeps speech recognition local. Mac (Apple silicon), `brew install --cask piro0919/tap/chappie`. Feedback welcome!

Who hunted Chappie?
Chappie was hunted by piro. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
