Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built Been because I’ve always liked the idea of having a personal history of all the places I’ve visited. Google Timeline does this well, but I didn’t like the idea of giving a company a permanent record of everywhere I go. So I built a version that works differently. Been keeps your location history locally on your iPhone. There’s no account, no cloud database, no advertising SDK, and no analytics tracking your movements. You simply enable location access and Been gradually creates a private timeline and map of the places you’ve visited. What I personally find especially useful is being able to quickly look up where I was on a specific day, or check when I last visited a certain place. You can also export your entire location history as JSON, so your data stays accessible and portable. Been is my first iOS app. I mainly built it because I wanted to learn iOS development and better understand how everything works under the hood. And, of course, Codex helped me a lot along the way.
