BatteryGuard

Protect your Mac battery with simple charging reminders

BatteryGuard is a lightweight macOS menu bar app for people who want to be more intentional about their Mac’s battery health. It complements Apple’s built-in battery features with reminders to plug in below 20% and unplug above 80%, helping you spend less time at extreme charge levels. Unlike more complex battery utilities, BatteryGuard is intentionally minimal. It lives in the menu bar and focuses on one job: giving you timely nudges that make healthier charging habits easier to maintain.

Top comment

I built BatteryGuard after noticing my Mac’s maximum battery capacity had dropped more quickly than I expected. I started reading more about battery health, and one of the biggest takeaways for me was that avoiding the extremes and staying in a healthier charging range can make a real difference over time.

I went looking for a simple menu bar app to help with that, but the ones I found either did not work the way I wanted or were much more complicated than I needed. I really just wanted lightweight reminders about when to plug in and unplug, so I ended up building BatteryGuard myself.

Psssst, if you are one of the first 5 people reading this, you can use code: IDNOBYB to get BatteryGuard for free! All I ask is that you leave some honest feedback on what you think of it, so I can either improve the app where needed or read a nice comment!
