Hi Product Hunt, I’m Giorgos, an independent Mac developer from Greece.
I spend a lot of time digging through the App Store: what something costs, whether it’s still maintained, what the subscription really works out to. The store is built for buying, not for deciding, so I built the tool I wanted.
The part I find most interesting: Apple only publishes an app’s current price. No “was” price, no sale flag. So nobody can tell you if an app is genuinely discounted. AppSift runs a collector that records prices.
What’s in it: filters the store doesn’t have (rule out subscriptions, minimum rating count, release date separate from last update), side by side comparison with every in-app purchase, subscriptions worked out per year, price history, prices across 12 countries, watchlists, collections, and a My Apps library that scans your Applications folder.
Three things worth knowing:
An app’s price chart starts when you install and fills in over days. The deals feed is full from the first launch.
Deals cover 10 storefronts. You can browse all of them.
The yearly cost uses the listed price, so free trials aren’t reflected.
It’s free, no account, no analytics. It’s a direct download rather than the Mac App Store, notarized and self-updating.
I’d genuinely rather hear what’s broken or confusing than what’s nice.
