A11yGate is an open-source Swift developer tool for testing whether VoiceOver users can actually complete important iOS workflows. It executes tasks, preserves machine-readable evidence, independently checks outcomes, and can use GPT-6 Astra for bounded planning and diagnosis.
An app can expose labels and still leave a VoiceOver user unable to complete a task. A purchase control might be hidden by an ancestor, a modal might trap the navigation path, or a screen transition might make the next step hard to find. A list of individually compliant elements does not establish task completion.
A11yGate makes the workflow the unit of testing. It records the path taken, the observations available at each step, whether the app reached an independently checked outcome, and what evidence is missing when a result is inconclusive.
A11yGate is a local-first Swift developer tool that asks: can someone using VoiceOver actually finish the important tasks in your iOS app? It combines workflow execution, machine-readable evidence, independent success checks, and optional AI-assisted diagnosis.
The long-term goal is accessibility claims as executable tests. The current preview includes a deliberately imperfect SwiftUI app with Login, Create Item, and Checkout workflows, plus an experimental iOS 27 VoiceOver runner.
